I sat here for quite some time trying to accurately share the past 46 days here in Guatemala. We’ve been blessed to serve alongside incredible ministries who have such a heart for the Lord and His people.

As I shared in my previous blog, our ministry touches many different areas so in the next few weeks/days I plan to highlight each of those in their own blog.

We’ve been joining God Said Go and J33 Medical Missions (linked below) weekly at a medical clinic in different communities around Guatemala. We’ve been able to be a part of 5 different medical clinics so far, serving anywhere from 100-200 families each time!!

You are welcome here. I pray that those who show up for the medical clinic come and feel accepted as they step into the church. That they will be covered in prayer whether it is spoken to them in Spanish, English, or simply over them while they receive care. You never know what weight these families are carrying, but I hope they can encounter Jesus in the midst of it.

Sometimes the families come in big waves or other times in a timely trickle if the church scheduled time slots. Regardless, we speak with each person to gather their general information for the nurses.
After my attempt at this, I’ve learned a gringa with broken spanish is not the ideal person for this job but thankfully there is SO much grace and patience from everyone.

We have a fabulous team of nurses who care so deeply for each family and intentionally seek ways to provide help. Whether this is through knowledge of how to care for themselves long term, medicine, prayer, and even helping get people to a hospital for urgent matters that arise.
Its been so sweet to see my three medical teammates use their knowledge and passions in nursing and healthcare to serve here in Guatemala. I’ve seen them turn to the Father for guidance on how to treat patients and spring into action to love these people really well.

In the red is our AMAZING host Craig, like seriously he is the BEST! His background is in pharmacy which makes him the man for the mobile pharmacy. Jeff, the gentleman above, heads up the medical missions and supplies all the necessary medicine to treat the families. He’s been so kind in letting me learn the pharmacy and learn about the different medicines. It was a really fun day spent behind the table with them.

And last but not least, the kiddos!! There are so many kids that come through the clinic and little by little, they emerge from the community and end up playing outside with us all day long. These sweet kiddos are full of joy and truly just want to be seen and loved (and also want alllllll the suckers). You can’t help but walk away feeling the Father’s love for His kids.

It has been a sweet blessing getting to partner with these medical clinics. We’ve seen hundreds of families, parents, kiddos, grandparents, etc and while we get to provide some physical relief… we get to welcome them into a church and point them to Jesus, the ultimate healer and redeemer.

prayers — unfortunately, my team entered into quarantine this week after being exposed to covid. One teammate has tested positive and is isolating herself from the rest of us. Prayers her symptoms continue to remain minimal and for the rest of us to stay without symptoms so we can return to ministry in the near future as we only have 15 days left in this beautiful country.

love, kk
