Last year on May 28th, I was one week into backpacking the Camino de Santiago. On the Camino, you meet people from all over the world and live in community with other pilgrims as you make the trek across Spain.

Each day, we have the opportunity for conversation but also time alone to reflect and be with the Lord.

On day 6, we hiked just over 20 miles to Villafranca. This day was filled with really sweet conversations with a few people on my team. Two of my conversations led to discussing my plans for after college. This is when I shared my interest in the World Race but I wasn’t sure if I was supposed to go.

It was my prayer on the Camino that the Lord would make it evidently clear if the WR was something He had for me in this next season.

The next day we made the ascent to O Cebreiro, this beautiful mountain at one of the highest points on the Camino. When we reached the top, a teammate and I washed our laundry and hung our clothes out to dry. Rather than caving in and taking a siesta, we decided to go talk to other pilgrims out front of the albergue.

That is where I met this sweet girl from Pennsylvania. She came to the Camino by herself and was only doing a short section of it. Within a few minutes of her talking and sharing some of her story, I felt I was supposed to ask her if she had ever been on the World Race.

and I bet you can guess her answer…

Yup.

That really just happened!!

She went on the race six years prior. She only had a few days left on the Camino but our time walking together was filled with conversation about her incredible experiences and memories on the WR.

If it wasn’t already a sign enough, she even was wearing a Survivor buff!

Of the thousands of people on the Camino, the hundreds of towns, cities, albergues, and places were you could physically be….you could not plan something like this even if you tried.

I truly believe the Lord gave me this friend…on the top of a mountain.. in Spain…to answer my prayer and affirm His call to the WR.

LIKE WHAT?!?

GOD IS SO GOOD!!!

Now a year later, I am not on the Camino but I am preparing to go serve the nations for 11 months!!!

As of now, I am still leaving in October. The countries are subject to change but regardless of where (and when) we go, I am expectant for this season and I know God is going to do some remarkable things in the midst of the uncertainty and fear from this pandemic.

In that, I’m not called to walk this journey alone, I need the support of my friends, family, and community. If you feel called to join my support team, you can subscribe to my blog (updates, prayer requests, etc.) and/or financially join my team as a one time or monthly supporter.

I thank God for orchestrating that moment on the mountain in Spain and for this wild journey He’s graciously leading me on!!!

As they say in Spain, Buen Camino (:
