Why? Why the World Race?
This question makes me excited as I have been working through the book “Start with Why” by Simon Sinek. While I could write an entire blog about the lessons this book teaches, let me sum it up quick.
“Any person can explain what they do. Some can explain how. But very few can articulate why. Why is the thing that inspires us and inspires those around us”
It makes sense. The part of our brain that makes decisions is separate from the part of our brain that can actually explain those decisions, hence the struggle to put our why into words.
So here is my best shot at it.
I 100 percent believe God had the World Race handpicked for me before I even heard about it two years ago. He shows up in every little detail and places desires, sometimes unexplainable desires, on our hearts. It is evident the Lord had been orchestrating and preparing me to say yes for years.
Thinking back and recounting all the little details and decisions which so clearly have led me to go, I can’t help but smile and laugh. God was revealing His calling to me while I was being typical Kailee, stressing and trying to figure out what I was supposed to do with my life the entire time.
(I’m still working on that…aren’t we all?)
As followers of Christ, we are called to share the Gospel. I am SO thankful God has placed the desire to travel on my heart and blessed me with the time and opportunity to leave the familiarity of home, pack up my life into a backpack, and go to the far off places of the world.
To think I get to walk alongside Him as he meets His children for the first time.
Wow…What a blessing!
God continues to reveal to me the deepest desires of my heart.
– A passion for connection and relationships.
– A desire to explore and wander His creation.
– An interest in communication amongst people.
– A desire to deepen my relationship with Him.
– A want for healing to intervene and transform the hurt and broken.
– A hope that all people can experience the neverending, unwavering love of God.
So yes, that’s why. That is why I will be leaving everything I have known to bring the most beautiful message around the world for 11 months.
