Training Camp.
I can feel it when the rain pounds on our tents. When the crackle of the fire is drowned by the voices and laughter of our team. The slam of porta potty doors in the early mornings. The sleepy mornings stumbling out of tents for temperature checks. It’s the simple cold bucket showers. The morning team workouts and fitness hikes. The unknown cultural foods shared around a table.
It’s the simple things like teammates braving the spiders in your tents. It’s the back-porch hangs. The tears that come when you see your teammates through the eyes of the Father. It’s recognizing the beautiful and growing process of feedback. I can feel it when the sweet sounds of worship fill the room. It’s a family of 44 strangers.
I can feel it when our coaches intercede in obedience to the Holy Spirit. When prayer surrounds our brothers and sisters all through the night. It’s like a group of old friends, reunited for the Kingdom. There’s just something about this community. It’s each of us saying yes to the unpredictable things, knowing we can trust the predictable character of God.
I can feel that the kingdom of God is this…and each day when the sun rises, we get to wake to an entirely new day being loved by Him.
